– One by one, the five Americans begin to hear these words as if they’re being spoken to them, too. As such, they experience some of the same emotions as the defeated troops before them, who are certainly touched by their commander’s speech.

GERMAN GENERAL:ドイツ人将校　　LIEBGOTT：アメリカ陸軍兵

2001年にアメリカで作成された「Band of Brothers」（スティーブン・スピルバーグ監督）の最終話第10話の最後に出てくる、敗戦者側のドイツ人将校が、アメリカの監視の下に同志に向けて行った演説文です。映像の中でドイツ人将校の言葉を米兵が英語に訳しているので、台本上でドイツ語を英語に逐次訳しています。「Band of Brothers」は、第２次世界大戦における米国陸軍パラシュート歩兵連隊の訓練から対ドイツ軍戦勝利・終戦までを描いたノンフィクション作品です。

もちろん、ナチスドイツをよく言うつもりはありません。それに終戦の言葉ですから、とてもそのまま今に当てはめることはできませんが、お互いが兄弟として強い絆で結ばれているという言葉は、今でも皆が等しく心に刻まなければならない言葉のような気がします。

1940年にドイツ帝国によるユダヤ人迫害が深刻化していくころ、アメリカで公開されたチャーリー・チャップリンの有名な映画「独裁者」。それからもう７０年近くが経とうとしているけれども、この映画の一番最後を締める皇帝ヒンケル（実はヒンケルそっくりの床屋のチャーリーの言葉だが）の演説は、わざわざ視聴率を落としてまで全世界に伝えたかった彼の言葉だが、むなしくも今でも色あせることがない。

最近になってこの最後のシーンは実は台本では演説の予定はなく、兵士達が喜んで踊り回るところで終わることになっていたことがわかった。

自ら書いた台本を直前で書き換え、監督として、（役柄で）皇帝として、（役柄で）一ユダヤ人として、そしてチャーリー・チャップリンとして、今自分が言わなければならないと思ったその言葉が少しでも早く色あせるような世の中になってほしいとおもう。

あ、しかしどうでもいいことだけれども、化粧していないチャップリンってすんごいかっこいいよね！

（映画「独裁者」演説全文）

こんな内容をmixiのような閉鎖的にできる場所でなくて、誰もが見られるブログに書くことではないのかもしれないけれども、どうしても頭から離れない言葉があって書き留めておこうと思う。いつもはブログを更新したことをこちらから公にお知らせするPINGという機能を使っているけれども、このエントリーはその機能は使わないことにした。

数日前に、沖縄・辺野古沖の海上ヘリポート建設計画の反対運動をしている大学時代に大変お世話になった方と電話で話した。

僕は個人的な旅行で友人たちと１１月に沖縄に行く予定なのだけど、その途中で１日その方にお世話になろうと計画している。そのお願いで電話したのだけれども、その際に「今はあんなだから、これから僕がどうなるかわからないけれども、僕がいなくてもいつでも建物は自由に使ってかまわないよ」とさらっといわれた。

「今はあんなだから」．．．．本当にこれからどうなるかわからないけれども、政府は辺野古沖の海上ヘリポート建設計画はかなり具体的な動きに出始めてきている。今まですでに３年近くにわたって座り込み運動をしてきた中でも、現在の状況はおそらくかなり厳しさを増しているのではないかと思う。

「建物は自由に使ってかまわないよ」に他意があるにしても、自分がどうなるかわからないほど今の情勢は厳しいということだと想像できる。先日の琉球新報の一面にも機動隊が、お互い腕を組み合って人間の鎖を作り、教育委員会の進入を拒もうとしている反対派市民を強引に引き離そうとしている姿が生々しく掲載された。お隣の韓国では同じような米軍基地の新設現場で、２万人もの警察（軍に近いと思うけれども）が動員され、多くのけが人や逮捕者を出している。

１５日の抗議行動では、調査のために入ろうとした教育委員会の人は、「我々としては混乱を避け、理解を得た上で調査に着手したい」として、現場到着から１時間あまりで立ち去ったそうで、今の段階ではまだ対話の姿勢があるように見えるがわからない。

僕は「自分は東京にいてなかなか活動に参加できないけれども」と枕詞を付してしまうけれども、実際に活動している人々が反対運動に対してではなく、自分に対してどういう思いや考えでいるのか初めてちらっと聞いた瞬間だったと思う。

政府関係者は自分の一言一言がどんなに多くのひとの人生を変えていってしまうのか十分によく考えて決めてほしい。お世話になった方かどうかに関係なく現場で反対運動をされている方々はどうぞお体に気をつけてください。

今朝８時半前に新宿駅を通る山手線に乗っていたんだけど、車掌さんのアナウンスにちょっとびっくり

「まもなく新宿に到着いたします。どなた様もお忘れ物などなさいませんように今一度ご確認ください。」

というのまではまあ、ありがちな文句。

そのまま続けて、

「今日も一日お気をつけて行ってらっしゃいませ。」

新幹線や飛行機に乗ると、まあこういうありきたりではないアナウンスというのもあると思うけれども、この言葉は在来線という日常の毎日、誰もが使うところでしか適していない言葉だから、逆に新幹線などではあわなくなる。

ちょっと考えてみると一番適した言葉なんだけれども、おそらく僕が今まで２１年間電車に毎日乗って通勤通学してた中で初めて聞いたアナウンスだった。

みんなにまねされるとなんだかくすぐったい言葉だけれども、たまにはいいんじゃないでしょうか？

ただ、せっかく車掌さんが言ってくれたものの、今日一日はほとんど空回りでかなり最悪の一日だった．．．
